My name is Shahrzad Kojouri, but everyone calls me Shaz. I’m a Philly attorney who has decided to take a big leap of faith and step into the fight against Sex Trafficking in Cambodia. I left my job and accepted a one year unpaid Legal Fellowship with the International Justice Mission (IJM).
Sex trafficking is a growing global enterprise driven by coercion and force. Traffickers transport or detain their victims for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation. This trade in rape for profit thrives in the absence of robust law enforcement to ensure the protection of the law for vulnerable children and women. I want to be part of the solution by (1) helping to create better laws and policies in Cambodia to protect the victims, informants, and witnesses (2) help prosecute brothel owners, pimps, corrupt officials and pedophiles (3) help in the healing and restoration of the victims (4) restore HOPE that Cambodia can be restored to its former self and its people can know a better world than one riddled with sex slavery and fear.
My goal for this work in Cambodia is to serve IJM and the people of Cambodia. I also hope to learn skills I can take into my ongoing fight against oppression and for the restoration of hope. Will you join me through raising awareness, prayers, and financial support?
